Geo Domains are a creative Internet company that believe in the potential of geographical based websites delivering
localised content/services to users across Australia. We pride ourselves in providing features to cater for the personal user
and businesses seeking online advertising solutions.
History
2004
- July 2004 the Australian Domain Name Administrator (auDA) conducted a public review of the restriction on
geographical names in com.au and net.au

August 2004 auDA decided that the restrictions on using geographical locations as domain names would be
lifted.
2005

31st July 2005 the geographical domain names were then placed into a ballot.

"First Round" ballots took place between 7 August 2005 and 21 August 2005, with Geo Domains receiving over 400 and
required to pay the Release Fee of $825/geographical domain name to auDA.
2006

July 2006 Geo Domains is formed with the goal of using these geographical domain names to develop community portals
delivering localised content/services.
2007
- July 2007 all geographical portals are live.
